Panthea Returns

Friday, April 24, 2009

After a long hiatus Panthea has returned. My life has undergone a lot of changes, a lot of turmoil, but finally I feel at peace. For the first time in my life I know what it is to be understood, appreciated, and loved for exactly who I am. While I do believe I had found those things within myself long ago, I managed to forget my own power over time; allowing someone else to strip me of all that makes me who I am. But that’s all over now.

I am now embarking on a fresh chapter in my life - one of independence and new love where I am confident that I will only grow and evolve as time goes by. For this I am forever grateful to the Universe. Sometimes all that is needed is for one to take control of their life. Everything else then seems to fall into place.

So, now it’s time to see about picking this place up a little bit. To those of you who were once regular readers: I’m not sure how long it will take me to get back into the swing of consistent updates, but all of the info that has always been here is still available and will remain so indefinitely. Feel free to comment, share you own links, etc. and hopefully Panthea will be as good as new in no time at all.

Thanks to those of you who are returning and to those of you who may be first time visitors. I hope you find something within these pages that stimulates your thoughts and your spirit.

Mama Monday and Miscellany

Monday, July 28, 2008

So I've been posting a lot lately, sometimes more than once a day. I've made a bit of time for Panthea lately, but it seems to be the only thing I've been able to make time for. I have emails I haven't answered, paintings to finish, laundry piling up, books to read, etc. Ah such is life I suppose. But I must say I am really loving the new layout. I loved the last one too but I couldn't manage to get over how weird it looked in Fire Fox. This one looks great in everything except the evil that is IE6. Anyway, hope everyone else likes it too. I think it will be around for some time.

Now onto Mama Monday goodness...

Above: Mother Love Goddesses from Amazon Earthworks

I was surfing around for something completely unrelated (can't remember what right now) when I wandered into Amazon Earthworks. I was suddenly inspired and entranced by the beautiful little Goddess altar items and vessels created by master potter, Margarite.
"When I combine clay, stones, feathers and other natural elements in my work, I am weaving the web and telling the story. We remember and reclaim the vital heritage of womyn as artists, creators of culture."

Everything was so pretty and I badly wanted the little white Goddess figure above. So I figured instead of spending some money I don't have I will simply share them with all of you. If any of you feels the need to purchase one of those lovely items please let me know so I can live vicariously. Hopefully one day soon I can gather up some change from all the pop cans I have waiting to be recycled (I drink soda instead of coffee) and support such talented and purposeful artists.

Back to Blogging Basics

Wednesday, July 09, 2008

So I gave the place a little redesign as you regular folks can probably see. I've decided it's time to get back to the basics of what this blog was intended to be.

I guess I thought all the superfluous stuff would up my traffic, increase comments, etc. But after seeing no real change I just figure it's best to stop clogging up the sidebar with a million unnecessary widgets and thing-a-ma-jigs. It's the content that counts and that's what I should be focused on. Not all the annoying bells and whistles.

I hope everyone likes the new design. It looks a little less than perfect in Safari (sorry mac users) and it's made for a big resolution. If you feel so inclined to let me know how it looks to you I would be greatly appreciative.

Oh, I would also like some opinions on something. I've been toying around with the idea of moving Panthea to blogspot. I already use blogger but I use my own webspace to host this blog. What do you guys think? It would be at a blogspot address (pantheablog.blogspot.com) that I suppose I could eventually get a domain for - and I would have to deal with the blogger nav bar at the top of my pages. The perks: easy publishing and a bunch of other tools that make things super cool and easy. Any thoughts? My other thought was wordpress, but I can't move all of my posts over there as easy as I would like. I've tried. Grr.

Now, let's see if I can come up with something blog worthly in the days ahead. Sometimes inspiration is knocking all the time and I could blog all day. Other times there's like some great void spinning through my mind and no words seem to come. Sentences get especially tough. :) Hopefully I can get some more temples done soon and get back on track.

So It's Been About a Month

Tuesday, June 12, 2007

How are all of you? I don't have much to post here right now, but I thought those of you who read Panthea deserved a little explanation.

Lately my attention has been very home centered. I haven't given my brain over to thinking about anything relating to my spirituality or the Goddess lately. This is all due to some dramatic events that went on in my life that I am still trying to get through.

I apologize to my readers and I will try hard to mentally recover soon so that normal-ness can resume here at Panthea. I am not gone, just on a little break. I guess you could say that I am not capable of finding a happy medium just yet. I tend to give my all to something and right now my focus needs to be with my husband and my daughter.

Thanks to all of you that still swing by every now and again and leave a comment for me. I read them and appreciate them.

Much Love, Grian

The Not So FAQs

Sunday, April 22, 2007

What's this blog all about?

Spirituality is a unique experience for everyone. Panthea is about mine.

There may be times when I post about news and such, but I don't claim to be a reporter of any kind. For great Pagan news you can check out the Wild Hunt or Wren's Nest at Witchvox. At Panthea you will mostly find my personal opinions and experiences of the Goddess. This could consist of my Goddess-y musings, my personal theology, and my thoughts on life in general.

I'm thrilled when others find something here worth talking and thinking about. I love hearing about the personal spirituality and experiences of others as well because I believe this is how we learn best about ourselves and connect with each others as individuals that are all part of a greater whole. While I call that whole the Goddess, you may call it something different. That's completely okay. You can call me Bob, but I'm still Lee.

What does Panthea mean?

Panthea is a Greek term meaning All-Goddess or "All Things are Goddess".
As the personification of the "complete female", Isis was called "The One Who Is All", Isis Panthea ("Isis the All Goddess"), and the "Lady of Ten Thousand Names".

Return of Panthea

Wednesday, November 22, 2006

Yes, I'm back online and my computer is functioning better than it did before. Thank goodness my mother is geek enough, though I did help just a little bit. She has successfully re-formatted the entire system and she even managed to save all of my files. Yay!

I am currently working on a few things - articles, podcasts (eventually), and maybe even a domain name for the site. I am still getting used to being able to be online and will have to get my newsfeed and blog reading routine going again.

I just want to thank those of you that have stuck with me and added some comments during my little hiatus. It really meant a lot to me.

So, look forward to blogging as usual to begin back here at Panthea.

Not Geek Enough

Friday, November 03, 2006

I am having severe computer problems which is the reason for the lack of posts. I will be back and running as soon as humanly possible. I am not sure just how I am going to do that yet, but I'm working on it. In the meantime, those of you who may have super powers with computers may have an answer for me. Here is the summed up issue: bad_pool_caller blue screen with Windows XP. Won't boot in safe mode, debugging mode, or last known configuration. Argh! I've even tried reinstalling the OS without success. I may have to bite the bullet and call the Geek Squad. Anyway, here's hoping my computer gets fixed soon. Thanks for your patience.

Blackbirds and Dolls

Monday, October 16, 2006

the goddess danuWith the change of season I felt the need to change Panthea's design.

I've been watching the crows and other blackbirds lately, scavenging along the damp ground and sifting through the fallen leaves with their beaks. In the cemetary in the next town over there must be thousands of them visiting with the dead and guiding souls to the otherworld. It really is a site. So, this is my autumn design; a mixture of blackbirds, blue sky, and a little sunshine. Oh, and those lyrics up top belong to the Beatles, but I bet most of you already knew that.

I've got some new posts in the works. I'm sure your sick of me saying that, but I really do. I've even comtemplated trying my hand at podcasting. It sounds like so much fun. Anyway, check back often. I'm certainly not on vacation - just collecting myself and trying my best to get through this semester, raise my daughter, tend to my home, and run a growing Circle.

I'd love to get some painting done soon as well, but that doesn't seem possible just yet. On the other hand I have been able to find a little bit of time to make some of my Goddess dolls. See the picture at top. These are fun and with the research I do in making them, I get to learn too.

Reconstruction

Wednesday, February 09, 2005

So I've taken this place up again and decided to reorganize some things, delete others, and continue with my own journey through this page. Right now it is in a state of construction. Please bare with me as I reorder everything and republish what I consider worthy.
